As residents of the Sydenham Centre we are delighted to announce this year’s summer festival which runs from 6th-16th July. With our move into the Sydenham Centre at the end of February this gives us and the community a dedicated space for Arts, cultural and wellbeing events featuring a mix of local organisations, events, activities and services for local and vulnerable people.
We are very happy to announce our annual Artists Trail, curated by the Artists Trail team with a veritable feast of visual arts from printmakers, jewellers, photographers, ceramics etc., which takes place over the weekends of 8th/9th & 15th/16th July.
The festival sees the return of Foxtots Bops, and we are proud to introduce Step Lively Barn Dance & Ceilidh in Mayow Park – London’s largest ever barn dance. Our dance theme continues with Salsa with Yamile, performances by singer, Harriet Eaves, and our summer film, the iconic West Side Story, which celebrates its 60th anniversary this year. Sydenham Community Library are also showing Paddington for a special fundraiser and family viewing.
We’ll be introducing some homegrown talent and winners of the Underbelly Award 2016, Four Femmes on the Thames and the Ivor Novello Award-nominated singer-songwriter, Boo Hewerdine at St Barts. International Poet, Deanna Rodger and New Comedian of the Year 2016 semi-finalist, Bryony Twydle, Ayesha Hazarika MBE, former special adviser to Ed Miliband and Harriet Harman’s ex-chief of staff returns to her comedy roots.
