The third workshop in a series of three ran by Jill Rutter that will introduce participants to the opportunities that indigo provides to textile creators.

Overview
Workshop Three – An introduction to Shibori:
Shibori is a Japanese stitch resist technique. Participants will learn ori nui and makiage designs and then have the opportunity to dye their stitched pieces.
All about Indigo:
Jill Rutter will run three workshops that will introduce participants to the opportunities that indigo provides to textile creators. Each workshop will last two hours, you can attend all three, or just come to the one that interests you. Participants will be given a handout to take away with them, providing details suppliers and further resources.
To book a place:
Advance booking is required, as the tutor has to prepare materials. Please email Jill Rutter jr@jillrutter.com to book a place, specifying the workshops you want to attend. Maximum of 10 people per workshop. Children over 13 are welcome if accompanied by an adult.
You will need to bring:
Please wear old clothes and bring a pair or rubber gloves (eg Marigold), an apron, an a plastic bag to take samples home.
Cost:

Workshop One – An Introduction to Indigo:
Participants will learn about indigo and woad, see examples of textiles from across the world and dye samples of cloth and yarn.
Workshop Two – An introduction to Sashiko:
Participants will be taught basic techniques and get to make two embroidered coasters. There will be an opportunity to learn about the history and revival of this slow stitching method.
