Kitty Jenkins is a painter who studied BA Fine Art at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. Working predominantly in oil paint Kitty’s paintings are built up through a series of layers and fragments, focusing in on the figure and its structural complexities. Her work explores notions of identity and recognition, probing and stretching definitions of individuality, form and structure.
Within these works the human body is broken down and rebuilt. The resulting structures are constructed from a myriad array of references (figurative, organic and inanimate) and attempt to dissimilate the individual identity in favour of a fluid arrangement between figurative painting and abstraction.
Through these abstracted figures she examines the boundaries between forms and explores the isolation of the figurative structure from surrounding elements.
