`My work has often been a reflection on journeys I have taken, whether to different destinations, through travel or as a personal exploration of the theme of migration and a sense of place.
Over the last two years this has evolved into a longer-term project based on The Odyssey by Homer. I felt a connection with the protagonist, whose journey was at first full of bold bravado, but soon becomes an insight into his personal journey towards maturity and a reminder about the fragility of our world and our effect on it. He travels towards an unknown future while the world around him becomes more complex and chaotic. Sometimes I illustrate the story from his point of view and sometimes from a distance, but as Odysseus we make our way through uncharted and uncertain times in the hope it will one day lead us home.’
