Michelle is not exhibiting.
Michelle Weiner is a textile artist and teacher living in Sydenham.
Michelle trained and worked as a theatre designer, has a master’s from Central Saint Martins in ceramic design and is a self-confessed ‘material’s geek’. Her work playfully engages with traditional craft practices and explores the role of ‘the maker’ in creating handmade objects. She aims to instigate dialogue around materials, challenge expectations and offer new decorative possibilities.
Michelle’s new work, presented at the Sydenham Arts Trail, is an exploration into wet-felting, challenging the viewer to look again at wool as a functional material for the home.
Michelle has been the producer and facilitator of creative workshops with families, teenagers and older adults for over ten years. She regularly facilitates sessions for people aged one to a-hundred-and-one to share her knowledge and explore her passion for the Arts further.
Michelle was delighted to be hand-picked by the Women of the Year Foundation as one of the Women of Achievement in 2013 and is the proud recipient of a Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Travel Fellowship.
