‘This is my first Sydenham Artist Trail but I’ve always been a keen photographer and will take photos with whatever camera is at hand. The photographs here are a mixture of digital and film and two were shot with a mobile phone.
I’ve lived in the Sydenham area all of my life, but in the last few years I have really started to see the hidden beauty in the place. The now demolished gas holders have been a bit of an obsession recently. I tried to capture the majesty of the industrial structures and the way the light played on them at different times of the day. The Waterlink Way to Catford is also a familiar area that I’ve tried to view in a different way.
Lockdown has curtailed my opportunities for going out with a camera, so I’ve spent the last few weeks watching the activity at the bird feeder in my garden, developing new ‘bird photography’ skills.’
