“In every piece of work I do, drawing always comes first. My aim is to create work that is both sensitive and contemplative, always carefully considering the context in which the work is to be shown. Preliminary sketches develop into thoroughly researched concepts and the world of drawing onto glass gives my illustrative work another dimension. A strong sense of line is important together with the play on silhouette shapes, shadows and light. I endeavour to capture a dynamic balance with positive and negative spaces. I enjoy ‘hiding’ imagery in my drawings, encouraging you to look more closely. Much of my time is spent teaching both drawing and glasswork, “the teaching enriches and inspires my own work”
