Street SmART In case of Emergency Cards

As part of our Street SmART Programme, we are commissioning local artists to create artwork for ‘In Case of Emergency’ cards. These cards will be easily accessible for free at nearby shops and establishments and will enable individuals to enter their emergency contact information. This card can then be handed to a staff member at the shop, who will be informed about this initiative and can use the provided information to get in touch with the designated emergency contact.

Who might need to use these cards?

Women and girls who:

  • Feel unsafe walking somewhere but are unable to use their mobile for any reason.
  • Feel unsafe in their own home.
  • Are being followed by someone who is making them feel uncomfortable or threatened.
  • Have become lost and do not know how to get to a safe location.
  • Have been physically or verbally assaulted and need help to report the incident.

What is Street SmART?

Street SmART is a project focusing on innovative ways to use the arts and creativity to help improve safety for women, including raising awareness around current issues, making practical interventions such as empowering local businesses with knowledge and opening up conversations about how we can make our streets safer for women.
